Booking System |
A booking chart for the following
calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order before the
owners’ annual meeting, where the bookings for the next year are
confirmed.
Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to October inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations. These extra bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month of the booking |
|
Priority for school holidays |
Two designated "special" shares have priority booking of school holiday weeks and pay a higher proportion of the costs than "ordinary" shares at a rate of 120% thus reducing the other 10 shares contributions |

General comments about the boat | ||
Winthorpe is a Hexagon built semi-trad style
boat, with the gas bottle storage in a locker/seating area on
the left-hand side of the rear deck.
Below the rear deck is a well-serviced 4 cylinder Nanni Diesel engine (powering a hydraulic drive system meaning it is very quiet), with the calorifier and battery banks. Dropping down the steps which are on the right-hand side of the boat, you pass the rear toilet with wash basin (en-suite to the main bedroom). To the right of the toilet is a cupboard with hanging space and access to the top-up tank for the boiler. Adjacent to this on your left is the main bedroom with a double bed, which can be extended to king-size and has drawer storage underneath. There is also a satellite TV and DVD player, and a radiator. The controls to the Alde boiler are above the bed. Next is the main toilet/bathroom, which has a wash basin, shower, and a heated towel rail. This is followed by another cupboard with hanging space, below which is the freezer. Moving forwards we have the kitchen with the oven below a work surface, followed by the stainless steel sink unit. Next to the sink is the hob, surrounded by further work surfaces, underneath which is the fridge. There are cupboards beneath the work surfaces, as well as on the wall facing the sink, together with wall cupboards and a microwave. The kitchen is well equipped with a full range of saucepans, utensils, cutlery crockery and basic cleaning materials. This brings you to the dinette area, with a glazed opening side hatch in the right-hand wall. There is an L-shaped dinette on the left, which sits six when using the two collapsible chairs that are kept on board. This also pulls out to make up into a double bed and has locker space under the seating, containing the relevant duvets and pillows. Immediately after the dining area, there is the solid fuel stove to the left, and a further radiator on the right hand wall. We then come to the saloon area, with two leather chairs, and a TV, radio and DVD player. There chair convert in to two single beds. Finally we come to glazed folding doors which open on to the bow seating area, with storage lockers under. There are removable cushions for both the bow and stern seating which are kept on the boat. To the front there is also a bow thruster, complimented by another at the stern. |

General Comments by vendor |

This is an excellent opportunity to obtain a
share in a great boat and join a friendly self-managed
syndicate. The boat was completely repainted during 2011 and
and gets many favourable comments from admirers on the cut.
There are two TV units, one in the fixed bedroom and the
other in the lounge. The TV has a self seeking satellite
system and within each TV is an in-built DVD.
The syndicate has decided to remain self managed as this reduces overall costs. This arrangement has worked extremely well for all owners. Winthorpe has its own website which contains a wealth of information about all aspects of the boat. In line with all boat syndicates there is an annual meeting of all owners usually late October or during November of each year. During the meeting the owners agree expenditure, improvements and moorings for the following year. This is a very well run boat with an enthusiastic group of owners who really appreciate being members of such an excellent and well constructed boat. The bow and stern thrusters make for easy manoeuvring in tight spaces. The boat is being fully repainted in January 2018. |
