General Comments by vendor
|
As Silver Steel is located in
Auxerre France (and as part of the syndicate rules) the
shareholder must have an ICC (International Certificate for
Operators of Pleasure Craft) or equivalent. For UK
residents, this can be obtained from the RYA.
Silver Steel is a very comfortable river cruiser, and has
been regularly well maintained by the syndicate e.g. recent
rear en-suite/WC overhaul.
The blown air heating system keeps her warm during cold
periods, and there are mains heaters on board which can be
used when connected to a shore supply.
Maintenance is undertaken by the boatyard as directed by the
BCBM who manage the boat.
The engine is more than adequate for the rivers and canals,
being perfectly capable for pushing against strong streams.
The bow-thruster makes for easy handling in close confines.
The outside seating and steering position is delightful when
underway, and while moored. The inside steering position is
a boon when it rains!
The boat has sealed maintenance-free batteries, so there is
no need for any topping up.
The base mooring is beautifully situated opposite the
spectacular town of Auxerre, is 5 mins walk from a large
supermarket, and many restaurants are just over the bridge
in the old town.
Travel is about six hours from the Channel by motorway, or
travel by Eurostar and TGV to the station about 10 mins walk
from the mooring is also possible.
Silver Steel has been well maintained
from new by the syndicate members (original and current),
She is in excellent condition.
We were part of the original syndicate when she was new and
rejoined a few years ago, unfortunately we are now unable to
get dog sitters as our children have changed jobs and so
reluctantly have to sell our share.
(Footnote by
Philip, boatshare. I have stayed in Auxerre
and it is a
really, really nice place to spend a few days)
