General Comments by vendor

We are a well organised
group formed 10 years ago with a Chairman, Treasurer,
secretary and engineer with every member helping, taking
on various jobs as they come up.
Amethyst is a
comfortable cruiser stern boat and is fully equipped
with all you need to enjoy the beautiful Canal du Midi
and the Languedoc region, which has great restaurants
and vineyards on route were you can stop for tastings,
lots of pretty little villages as well as the main
attractions of Carcassonne, Toulouse, Narbonne and
Bezier there are very few mooring restrictions on route,
however there are some charges, but they are minimal
some give the first night free.
We are fortunate to have
and English couple who live close by who look after
shopping, laundry and the refuelling of the boat as well
as transport to and from the airport, the nearest
airport is Carcassonne about 30mins away. Ryanair fly
there from Liverpool, East midlands, Stansted, Glasgow,
Cork & Dublin
Boating on the Canal du
Midi is easier than the UK as the majority of locks are
electrically operated by the lock-keepers, all locks are
shut from 12.30 to 1.30 for lunch.
All members make a
monthly payment of £30 per share which covers the Annual
Licence, Insurance and winter moorings, etc. this also
pays towards some expenses incurred by dry-docking, we
have no management fees as everything is done by the
members.
To hire a similar boat on
the Midi for one week would cost more than £1000 per week.
