Booking System |
For booking purposes, the ten shares are
arranged as five pairs with an associated priority that changes each
year. A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated
in the priority order in late summer before the owners’ annual
meeting. Each owner in turn can choose up to two weeks (separately
or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to September
inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year.
After setting aside agreed weeks for winter maintenance (usually
December/ January), the remaining (fourth) weeks are booked at the
AGM in October with priority reversed from that used for the
previously-booked weeks.
Each pair of shares moves up one place (each owner effectively
moving up two places) in each subsequent year and, after a year at
the top of the priority list, that pair drops to the bottom; the
order within the pair is reversed each year and the five year cycle
begins again. |
Priority for school holidays |
Up to two shares in the boat can be
designated as 'Special Shares' requiring school holiday dates.
Owners holding a Special Share pay a 25% premium on the annual
running costs payments in return for the privilege of booking their
weeks before all normal share owners. |

General comments about the boat |
The boat has a semi-trad stern housing the
control panel, shore-based 240v supply socket, and lockers
containing gas bottles, mooring pins, lock keys etc.
Going down the steps through the lockable rear door to the main
bedroom which houses a fixed double bed (extendable to 5ft. width as
required), an en-suite loo and washbasin, locker and wardrobe
storage, fuse switches, 240v inverter, and battery charger unit.
The Alde gas boiler is housed in a cupboard in the corridor that
leads first to the bathroom and then to the galley. The bathroom
contains a washbasin, a pump-out loo, a corner bath with shower over
it, a full-width mirror, storage cupboards, and a radiator.
The galley is U-shaped and contains a sink unit and drainer, 12v.
fridge, 240v microwave, gas oven and grill, and storage units below
and above the worktops.
The L-shaped dining unit is next to the galley and converts to a
double bed. A full complement of duvets and pillows are stored
onboard.
The lounge adjoins the dining area, with a wardrobe and storage unit
and the solid fuel stove first, and then two lounge chairs that
convert to single beds as required. The lounge is equipped with an
DAB/ FM/ USB radio, a TV and DVD. Two stools and two folding garden
chairs are available for use in the bow area or onshore.
Stepping up three steps through the front doors from the lounge you
come to the bow area with locker storage and seating space. The main
water tank is housed in the bow and the lockers contain a hose for
filling up, the boat's anchor, and stocks of solid fuel for the
stove.
The gas central heating provides heat to five radiators throughout
the boat. |

Sceptre is owned by a
private syndicate of 10 people with the roles of chairman,
treasurer, engineer and booking officer being self-managed.
Over the last 4 years we have made considerable improvements
with a new Alde boiler supplying 5 radiators and hot water
2013, new engine in 2014, complete bare metal repaint and
professional sign-writing in 2016.
During 2017 we have replaced the microwave, gas hob and
oven, the 2 armchairs are about to be replaced with a
convertible sofa.
Winter works for the end of the 2017 season will be a
bathroom replacement including holding tank, re-blacking the
bottom (carried out every 2 years) and a repaint in the
engine room.
We hold our annual AGM yearly in October where we discuss
any problems, future upgrades and where to moor. More
pictures and a copy of the hull inspection 2016 and current
BSS are available on request.
