General comments about the boat |
The owners of Rivendell took over the boat from The Boatshare Company
in 2005 and now have full dedicated committee and engineer to look
after the running of the boat. The owners hold an annual meeting to
discuss the boat and at the meeting the costs for the following year
will be estimated. During the year owners are kept informed by email an newsletter.
Starting from the rear of
the boat is the semi-trad stern, which has two lockers for the storage
of equipment. Fitted seat covers are available for their use as seats.
Steps lead down into the main bedroom, which is equipped with a fixed
5ft extending double bed. There is ample storage space in two full
length cupboards, an over-bed cupboard, under-bed space, a dressing
table with cupboard below, plus shelving.
Walking through a corridor, a separate bathroom on the left is equipped
with a full shower cubicle with a domestic hinged door, wash basin, with
storage below, and a pump out toilet. The gas central heating is
enclosed in a cupboard off this corridor, and there is other storage
adaptable for food or clothes.
The corridor enters the galley area through a door; there is a curtain
at the bedroom end to provide privacy at night. The well equipped galley
contains a 4 burner gas hob, a gas cooker with eye level grill, a
washbasin with double drainer, and electric refrigerator, plus ample
storage. Opposite the galley is an opening hatch for extra light and
ventilation; this has a Perspex panel for extra light on rainy days.
Beyond the galley is a raised dinette which converts to a double bed.
There is then a lounge area with two comfortable chairs which can be
converted to single beds to provide six berths. A curtain is available
to screen off this area when it is used as a six berth. Heating can be
provided by the solid fuel stove and/or radiators served by the gas
central heating system.
Television, DVD player, radio and a dedicated mobile phone are opposite
the solid fuel stove.
The boat carries the CE mark & complies with the Recreational Craft
Directive which includes the boat safety certificate.
Power is provided from batteries with 240V ac available from either the
on board inverter or a land line hook up at the marina.
Steps lead to the fore deck which has space for folding chairs provided.
The water tank is under the deck and the stem locker contains three gas
bottles.

General Comments by vendor
|
Rivendell is managed by an elected
committee, with the result that annual costs are considerably lower
than those charged by managing companies. It is well maintained and
has been improved every winter.
As Rivendell is winterised and not used in the colder months
likelihood of frost damage is minimised, and also the blacking is
not damaged by " ice breaking".
Over the 2015/2016 winter the bottom has been blacked, the fireplace
rebuilt and the water pump replaced. A new cooker was fitted in
2013. The gas boiler and shower cubicle were replaced shortly before
I purchased my shares in 2012. |
