General comments about the boat
Dragonfly is a 58ft, six-berth, semi-traditional narrow boat built by Dursley & Hurst and launched in 2002. She was completely repainted in January 2009
Entering from the stern, you will find the fixed double berth in a
comfortable cabin with wardrobe, cupboards and under-bed storage. The
bed is 4’ x 6’3” and has a good-quality orthopaedic mattress to ensure a
relaxing night’s sleep. In early 2011, the bathroom and kitchen area
was completely refurbished and now consists of a walkthrough bathroom
with cleverly designed private toilet cubicle, full size shower with
overhead T-bar and hand-set,stylish ceramic washbowl and heated towel
rail. Beyond this is the kitchen, which is well equipped with 700mm gas
oven/grill, 4-burner gas hob, fridge, 1.5 bowl stainless steel sink and
lots of storage space including a built-in wine-rack. A good range of
pans, china and cutlery is provided together with all the little extras,
such as cleaning materials, matches etc, that you may require. A 240v
power supply allows use of a toaster and microwave (or any other small
appliances owners may choose to bring with them) and there are several
other sockets elsewhere on board.
There is a comfortable dinette, which can be converted into a second
double berth. This is slightly raised and gives good views from the
large picture windows.
The saloon is spacious and airy, having double doors opening to the bow
area. Two leather swivel chairs and footstools are in the saloon, (where
airbeds are provided for the additional berths), and there is
a colour TV/DVD Player, CD/Radio and, for the chillier nights, a
traditional stove.
The whole boat is tastefully furnished in shades of green with ash
panelling. There are radiators in all areas, which run very efficiently
from the diesel supply. |

General Comments by vendor
Dragonfly is available for use between February and early December each
year and people buy as many weeks as they require at the time of year
which suits them. Unlike other schemes, you stick to the same week every
year making it easy to plan your holidays to fit in with work or school
commitments.
We started off life as part of the original Boatshare Company (nothing
to do with this site) but, following the decision to move to new
moorings in 2006, three of the owners took on the roles of Boat Manager,
Secretary and Treasurer. Fees are paid annually in accordance with the
number of shares owned and this pays for all shared running costs such
as licensing, insurance, mooring, regular maintenance etc. The only
thing you will need to pay for at the end of your holiday is fuel and
pump-out.
The boat is checked by the marina staff at each changeover and is
serviced regularly. They will also provide a valet service, if
required. Winter maintenance, including hull-painting if necessary, is
carried out annually during December and January.
Owners are kept informed of all developments through regular newsletters
and are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting which is held in
July each year. There is a great spirit of camaraderie among the
owners.
